Welcome to Oakthwaite Lodge, set in the grounds of Oakthwaite, on a quiet side road between the villages of Windermere and Bowness.
Especially designed to suit couples and their pets Oakthwaite Lodge is beautifully designed and appointed to make a Lakeland retreat, that little bit more special.
Accessed up a private drive and with parking directly outside, Oakthwaite Lodge is a short stroll downhill to all the local amenities and attractions Bowness has to offer, including a varied selection of restaurants and hostelries serving local ales and great food, an ample collection of independent shops and of course Lake Windermere and it’s various activities.
Windermere village and train station is a half mile walk away and a short drive will bring you to many of the well renowned local villages and hamlets of Ambleside, Grasmere, Hawkshead and Elterwater. Walks are in abundance and some can easily be picked up from right outside the front door.
The Property
A detached bungalow, Oakthwaite Lodge is modernly furnished, designed and finished to a high standard with great care and attention to detail and emphasis very much on comfort and quality.
An open plan luxury kitchen with all mod cons, convenient dining area and comfort lounge provides ideal space for holiday living.
The bedroom has co-coordinating fabric and furnishings and electric blinds. The fully tiled bathroom is finished to a high standard to afford a relaxing place to unwind at the end of a busy day on the fells. All gas, electric and bed linen is included.
For additional convenience, there is a dressing room with storage, full length mirror and dressing table (with mirror) off the open plan lounge, ideal for visitors planning a special occasion or as guests of a wedding.
French doors lead from the living area out to a large enclosed private patio area with furniture provided and ideal for al fresco dining. Oakthwaite Lodge is all on one level.

OutDoor Space

Upon arrival, you’ll find a convenient tarmac parking area right at your front door, making it easy to unload your luggage, no matter the weather.
Open the double doors from the lounge and step onto your own private enclosed patio, a perfect spot for relaxation. This charming area features a seating arrangement for four, complete with a sunshade to keep you comfortable during sunny afternoons. Whether you’re enjoying a meal outdoors, diving into a good book, or simply soaking in the tranquility, this patio is your personal oasis. Plus, it’s a safe space for your supervised pets to enjoy the fresh air.

At Oakthwaite Lodge, we believe that your pet is an integral part of your family, and we are delighted to welcome both you and your furry companions. Our expansive outdoor space provides the perfect environment for your pets to explore and enjoy, while the nearby trails offer a variety of scenic walks to discover together. We kindly ask that you observe a few simple guidelines when bringing your pet along;
You are welcome to bring one medium size pet; for any additional pets or larger breeds, please reach out to us for a discussion.
A small fee may apply for extra pets.
While we embrace your pets with open arms, we also trust that you will take responsibility for their wellbeing and health.

The Location
Oakthwaite Lodge is located in Windermere in the heart of the English Lake District National Park. Close to all local amenities, yet far enough away to provide peace and quite, Oakthwaite Lodge truely offers the best of both worlds. At the lodge, you are within easy walking distance of two of the most visited areas in the Lake District.
Exit M6 at junction 36 and follow the A591 to the Lake District.
You will pass by Kendal and at the roundabout need to follow signs for Windermere/Ambleside.
After about 10 miles you will reach Windermere village, take the first left off the A591 in front of the Windermere Hotel. You will pass the Tourist Information Centre on your left, continue through the village of Windermere and head down hill towards Bowness.
Turn left at Baddley Clock Tower just after a small park area and take the first right onto Princes Road.
Pass the junior school on your left and continue to the end of this road where it meets Thornbarrow Road.
Oaktwaite is the last house on the left with stone pillars on either side of the entrance gate.
Continue up the drive where parking for the lodge is directly outiside the front door.
